Come and join me, Laure, to learn to create a quilted Autumn Leaf square in watercolor based on an analogous palette. This class is designed to help you see value, understand how the addition of texture changes the value and how to make unique and fun variations on just one template.
Do you have a hard time going “dark enough” in your artwork?
Do you have a difficult time “reading values“?
Do you struggle to get a full range of values (lights, darks and mid-tones) in your paintings?
This class is a great way to learn about using values to get really dark darks, learn to get a full range of values and to recognize the different values in your work. I won’t say it’s stress-free (that’s up to you), but I can say it is a great way to learn about values and have fun!
This class will be hosted on the Zoom platform with an opportunity for you to ask questions in real time. Zoom is a free tool and you only need your computer to access it. You may need to download the Zoom app to get the most out of the tool.
Once you are registered, I will send out information on your homework and what steps you will need to complete ahead of time to be ready for class!
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I Have To Know How To Draw?
No, you do not. You will be provided with a template to trace onto your paper.
Will Other Gel Pens Work?
I do not know. The Moonlight pens by Gelly Roll are opaque and formulated to show up on dark papers. If you gel pens are similar, they will probably work. If they are not meant to work on dark papers then they probably will not.
When Will Class Be Held?
Class will be held live and online on Wednesday, September 9, 2020 at 12:00 p.m. EDST and will last approximately two hours (but probably longer as I will try to answer as many questions as I can).
Can I Access The Class Later?
Yes! The class will be recorded and posted within 48 hours on TheImaginaryRealm.com. Once the class has been uploaded, you will receive an email to let you know where and how to access the video and handout.
How Long Will I Have The Materials?
You will have the class instructions handout (in pdf form) forever as it can be downloaded and you will have access to all the class videos for one year from September 9, 2020 or the date you sign up after September 9, 2020.
Can I Get A Refund For This Class?
Unfortunately, that’s not possible once access to the class materials has been given.

Transfer Papers
All transfer papers are NOT created equally. I used both a white and a graphite transfer paper in the quilt project. You do not have to purchase either item to make the project work as I show you alternate ways to create a transfer. With that said, if you find yourself doing a lot of these, it’s worth the investment to get the transfer papers.
If you purchase graphite transfer paper please be sure it is Wax Free.
To transfer your project without graphite transfer paper, you can use a window or light box.
For the areas where a white transfer paper would work best, you can use a white charcoal pencil to create the transfer by scribbling on the back of the paper to be transferred. Several methods of transfer will be shown in the class.
